Throwing Leigh Brackett Under the Bus for Justice

Why is this a thing? Because they physically, intellectually, and emotionally are incapable of getting Leigh Brackett right. Here is the most recent example of this baffling phenomenon:

Let me break down what just happened there.

  1. The first tweet there is a reference to the thinking that underlies Cat Rambo‘s recent declaration that with “problematic” things, “it’s okay to love it if you like.” The kicker is that you have to be willing to create and or submit to some kind of weird struggle session at any moment. (No, normal people don’t live like that, but this is evidently some sort of weird cult or something.)
  2. The second tweet is a reinforcement of the idea that there is no “safe zone” with this stuff. With these people, everything is sexist. There is no defense against this accusation and if you think you have one it can always be trumped by anyone that chooses to be more outraged than you.
  3. Seems like a pretty air tight system of mutual flagellation, right? Well the preceding axioms are actually insufficient to make it work. Leigh Brackett’s connection to Empire does in fact provide some defense against charges of sexism even though the previous tweet denies that directly. This “helper” in the third tweet is not convinced and has to go even farther to shore up the narrative by diminishing Leigh Brackett’s contribution to the film.

It’s completely bizarre, but they keep doing it.

It’s almost like they have to throw Leigh Brackett under the bus to carry this off.

Doing anything else goes against their programming…!

The funny thing is, these are the sort of people who would lose their minds if they actually read any of Brackett’s stories.

They act like human nature suddenly changed in the past few decades. But they play a really old game.

“All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.”
